Service Technician
• Responsible for retrofit and repair of boilers, burners, and accessories, utilizing knowledge of steam and hot water theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.
• Familiar with all forms of flame safeguards and the use of VOM’s and other troubleshooting tools.
• Conduct calibration, repair, and adjustment of associated controls.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications to customer’s equipment.
• Assist in installations and start-up of newly installed boilers and burners.
• Prepare for new equipment commissioning and repairs by examining equipment, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• A positive attitude and desire to be part of a winning team.
• Ability to follow electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and blueprints.
• Occasional travel to out of state customer sites.
• Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products at customer’s location.
• Flexibility to work afterhours, weekends, and on-call as scheduled.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Participation in on-going training to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Keep current on the installation, operation, service, and repair of represented products.
• Minimum of five years of mechanical work experience.
COMMUNICATION & ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
• Document work by completing daily paperwork on each job.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Determine parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
• Maintain inventory of required supplies and tools on company supplied service vehicle.
• Communicate sales leads to Sales Department.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid driver’s license: required
• High school diploma, or G.E.D.: required
• Minimum of five years of mechanical work experience: required
• License (e.g. Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.): preferred
• Certifications or vocational or technical training: preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Full mobility is required, including the ability to use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
• Ability to crawl into confined spaces.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
• Have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
